Helpful People

You know what's really great but not really? Friends and family who know that I'm working on lowering my cholesterol to prevent a future heart attack texting me photos of the food they're eating at restaurants. I know they likely don't intend it to seem like a taunt but that's how it feels. With each photo I hear "Neener neener, I'm eating yummy food while you're eating rabbit food." :-/

But. It will all be worth it when I go back to the doctor in January and he tells me that I can stop taking my cholesterol meds because I've managed to improve my health so dramatically so quickly.

And to be honest, I haven't minded all the veggies I've been eating. I haven't really missed meat or cheese. I've learned to like almond milk. And the fact that I can walk a mile without dying? Amazes and thrills me.

I'd rather miss out on a trip to the Japanese steakhouse now and never have to have my chest cracked open later.

In other news, I have a mostly vegetarian chili in the Crock Pot and it smells amazing. I say mostly vegetarian because it only has half a pound of turkey burger in it instead of the pound of ground beef I normally use. Plus, lots of onion, bell pepper, beans and fire roasted tomatoes. Yum.

Also, bought some fish oil pills to supplement the meds, exercise and healthy diet. For the first time in a long time, I'm being proactive on taking my health seriously. Not just some desperately vague attempt to lose weight--though weightless would be great. But it's not about that anymore. Or not JUST about that anymore anyway.
