So I had steak last night with my friends as anticipated. Both the steak and my friends were awesome. I'm such a recluse by nature that I always forget how much fun it can be to go out with my co-workers. I'm blessed enough to work with an amazing group of people who I actually like. I just hate that it had to be a going away party for one of my favorite colleagues. :(
Anyway, I did well yesterday. Even though I ranted. haha
I did end up eating an ice cream cone between lunch and supper just because I was STARVING and a friend asked me to go with her. It was a chick-fil-a cone, though, and the small cone (which is what I got) is only 170 calories. I looked that junk up AGES ago. ;-)
I did well at supper, though. Even though someone in our group ordered two desserts for the table to share, I didn't take so much as one bite. Partially because I had excellent willpower. But also because I didn't have a fork. haha Mainly, though, I'm not hip on all the germs of two desserts being forked off of by 12 people. GROSS.
By the time I got home, I was a little hungry again so I ate a weight watchers 100 calorie fudgey ice cream bar. Much better than splitting dessert and germs. haha
All in all, I think yesterday went okay. Not stellar, but okay. And the scale this morning in an unofficial but daily weigh-in reflected well. I'm only 1lb up from the 3lb loss the scale showed Monday. And that's after the Panda trip AND a heavy steak and potatoes supper.
Oooo, totes weight-loss unrelated...
The house salad I ordered last night was good, too. It was chock full of tomatoes, bacon pieces and fresh corn mixed in the greens. I must make a note to myself to start putting fresh corn in my salads. That mess was pretty darn good, ya'll.
But back on target, today's triumph is my resistance to temptation. I was getting really hungry by the time my morning break time came around so naturally the idea of getting a bagel from the bagel shop downstairs entered my head. I even counted the calories up and figured I could get away with it. If I'm careful the rest of the day it's doable. But, therein lies the slippery slope of carving a new relationship with food. I've got to learn that it's okay to be a little hungry and do small things like snack on the roasted almonds I brought to work expressly for that purpose instead of splurging on something heavier.
Almonds in moderation are healthy. Bagels, however, are pure carbs. Not to mention the cream cheese. (Because why eat a bagel without cream cheese. Duh.) So even if they fit in with the calorie allotment for the day they aren't a healthy option.
Anyway, lunch today will be a Special K protein bar (and maybe another small handful of almonds) with water. Supper tonight will be a bagel thin pizza with mushrooms. I know, I know. All that smack talk above about bagels and I'm planning on one for tonight. But these at home are the whole wheat bagel THINS (110 calories) and a smaller amount of carbs than the large thick bagels from the bagel shop.
Eat what you like but eat it smarter.
