And that's just what they did!
So yeah. I just got back from my FIRST ONE MILE WALK! Woo to the Whoo Yeah!
I'm sure I've walked a mile in the past. Maybe back in college. But this is the first mile I've ever tried for and won! Granted, it took me almost twenty minutes but I'm calling it good because a) I came back alive and 2) I can maybe make it out to the car after work. haha
The hardest thing about walking at work (on a college campus) is all those bodies swarming around. For an introverted reclusive hermit like me, all those bodies to dodge is kinda sorta a nightmare. But I just hafta remind myself to breath deep, look up from the ground and suck in the ol' gut and get on with it. Nobody notices me and that's good.
Okay, so the swarming bodies is the second hardest thing. The hardest, hardest thing is that the route I take to get in a mile takes me behind the student union where the food court (and Panda/Orange Chicken) lies and all the deliciously wonderful smells waft outside tempting me to sin. I've been good these past seven days of walking and I haven't detoured inside for a little temptation giving in. I just try not to breathe too deeply during that part of the walk. haha
So today's report:
Cheerios and almond milk for breakfast. With water.
Morning break a friend and I walked over to Starbucks for coffee. I got a tall nonfat hazelnut cappuccino because I researched the nutrition before going and discovered that a non-fat cappuccino has less calories than a non-fat latte due to less milk in a cappuccino. And ya'll know what? It was even better than the latte. Less heavy gut weighing milk and I could actually TASTE the coffee instead of all that milk. So, win. Oh, and bee tee dubs, the non-fat cappuccino only has 80 calories. Score! (and it's cheaper than the latte--Triple score!)
Lunch was a chicken salad sammy on rye. Or half a sammy on rye. And one GIANT HUMONGOUS honey crisp apple. Seriously. I almost didn't make it through that thing it was so ginormous. But I pushed through and finished it for some serious cholesterol busting madness. (Apples are a great anti-cholesterol food...did you know that? I read it in an article. RESEARCH, people.) Oh, and the chicken salad was some I made last night by boiling a chicken breast and mixing it with a touch of mayo (not light--I'm a snob), dried cherries, salt, pepper, dried onion flakes and dill pickle relish. Yum and done. They mayo probably knocked it out of being completely healthy but it's all about moderation. Or so they say. Whoever "the" are. Oh, and water to drink.
I haven't had anything since lunch. Need to go get a glass of water to rehydrate after that EPIC MILE I just walked. ;-)
Supper tonight will likely be a salad made with romaine, one egg, grated carrots and honey mustard dressing. Maybe some homemade rye croutons.
I'm addicted to rye bread. If I could find a whole wheat version of bread that tickles my palate as much as rye I'd switch. But the rye just tastes better and it keeps me from getting too bored with sandwiches. And croutons, apparently. haha I must remember to check the nutrition label when I get home to see if the rye is doing me any favors...
